Supply Chain Business Manager

100% Onsite in Livermore, CA
This position pays between $52.00 and $88.00 per hour.
Pay for this contract position is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Plans, schedules and monitors the movement of materials through the production cycle to determine required materials purchases. Obtains materials using engineering and production schedules to maintain inventory at planned levels (i.e., Just in Time purchases, use of EOQ - Economic Order Quantities). Resolves discrepancies. Creates and maintains bills of material and parts/commodities numbers in supply chain management or other enterprise-wide systems. Ensures material standards are met and non-conformances or variances are approved and/or minimized. Develops specifications for new contract orders. Gathers quotations, examines bids and makes awards. Monitors cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. Evaluates vendor reliability and develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive.
This Supply Chain Business Manager (SBM) position is an individual contributor that plays a vital role in managing suppliers in the RF commodity with core responsibility to ensure finished goods are delivered per plan. The SBM will work with suppliers to manage and improve their processes, drive operational excellence in supply chain operations, and participate in continuous improvement programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Planning & Procurement
Plan, schedule, and monitor material flow through the production cycle to determine procurement needs.
Establish supplier goals to align material delivery with forecasted demand.
Supplier Performance & Risk Management
Define and track supplier performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
Evaluate quality, delivery, and cost benchmarks, and assess risks tied to preferred supply base selection.
Process Improvement & Best Practices
Lead initiatives to deploy best-known methods in procurement, inventory control (JIT, Kanban, min/max), and manufacturing strategies.
Develop presentations, white papers, and process flow charts to support continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Product Management, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Supplier Quality Engineering to resolve supply challenges.
Collaborate with Engineering and suppliers to troubleshoot complex issues and ensure timely delivery of critical materials.
Cost Management & PPV Control
Monitor product cost with suppliers to prevent negative PPV and support cost reduction efforts.
Supplier Development & Manufacturing Excellence
Drive improvements in supplier manufacturing processes to enhance product quality and on-time delivery.
Operational Metrics Ownership
Manage key performance indicators including:
Supplier On-Time Delivery (OTD)
Consignment program effectiveness
Lead-time reduction
Inventory optimization and E&O mitigation
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Operations, Engineering, or business; MBA or post graduate degree in Supply Chain Management preferred.
Minimum 8 years of working experience in Supply Chain, Operations, or production environment, preferably in Semiconductor/manufacturing environment
Creative thinking and strong problem-solving capabilities
Has extensive experience interfacing with customers and suppliers and managing these relationships, knowledge of supply chain management business processes.
Experience with Program Management, exhibit attention to detail, sense of urgency and ability to handle multiple tasks in fast paced environment.
Exceptional interpersonal relationship skills, Solid analytical and written/oral communication skills with ability to communicate cross-functionally and with various levels of the organization.
Preferred Quals:
Project Management / Lean Six Sigma experience
Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements.
SAP experience
